God's Masterpiece
God's Masterpiece
by Susana Martinez
Hi boys and girls. It's my opportunity once again to bring you the story this Sabbath. I hope you've been enjoying summer since I know some of you are already all done with summer school so you have time to enjoy it. Which made me think of this book, God's Masterpiece. God's Masterpiece.
Come along with me, my friend. I can't wait for you to see some of the most famous art made for you and me. Wow! Come look at this one. Tell me, did you know the big blue sky and these shiny stars were painted by Van Gogh? Or lily pads and haystacks
At all the times of day were painted by an artist whose name was Claude Monet. Degas made a masterpiece of dancers in a row, and M.C. Escher drawings make you wonder how they go. The artist Michelangelo painted upside down, and Da Vinci's Mona Lisa has a smile, not a frown.
Georgia Surratt painted dot to dot, one point and then another. Mary Cassatt loved to paint a baby and a mother. Georgia O'Keeffe's flower could even trick a bee. She zoomed in extra close and took the time to see. Hosu'ai told the story of a strong and mighty storm.
Feel the coolness of the blue-gray waves. Grab a blanket to stay warm. And here is another masterpiece. It's priceless. Yes, it's true. The Valuable of Values. God's masterpiece. It's you!
You were made with a purpose, work to do, and a plan to share God's love. Believe me, our Creator is smiling from above. God shaped your nose and your bright smile. He chose the color of your skin. He gave you kindness, goodness, selflessness, and your character within. He made your hair part over there.
The wiggle of your toes, the way your teeth are coming in, and how you say hello. God loves it when we celebrate our fun-tastic different ways. Every single work is good. God art is on display.
Unique special set apart, God's creativity has no end. Picture big, gold, awesome frames around the faces of your friends. And when your friends might wonder if they are good or fun, remind them that they're works of art created by the One. Our Maker cares about each mark, each freckle, scrape, and scar.
Our God who holds the paintbrush is the God who's never fallen. Our God makes us one of a kind. You're priceless, don't you see? Because there is no other you and there is no other me. God is the master painter and friend, you are the art. You can trust our maker to finish what he starts.
So look up close and smile big and shout this joyfully. I'm so very thankful that God's masterpiece is me. You, boys and girls, are the masterpiece. Every time you look at the mirror, I want you to remember that there is only one of you. God created you to be unique. Let's bow our heads.
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you, dear Lord, for creating such beautiful artwork that we get to admire every day. Help us, dear Lord, to be willing to share the love that you have for us with others so that others can understand that they too are masterpieces. Thank you for all that we have, for we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. Bye, boys and girls.
